What this calculator is telling you — in plain words
No jargon. Here's exactly what an SIP is and what each number on this page means.
?What is an SIP?
SIP stands for Systematic Investment Plan. Instead of investing a big lump sum once, you invest a small fixed amount every month into a mutual fund — like a recurring deposit, but in the market. It builds the habit of saving and smooths out the ups and downs of the market over time.
3The three things you enter
=How the maths works (simply)
Every monthly amount you invest starts earning returns. Those returns then earn their own returns — this snowball effect is called compounding. The calculator adds up what each month's instalment grows into by the end, and shows you two numbers:
• Invested amount — the total money you actually put in (your monthly amount × number of months).
• Estimated returns — the extra your money earned on top, purely from growth and compounding.
• Total value — the two added together: what your SIP could be worth at the end.
This calculator is for illustration only. The returns shown are based on the expected rate you enter and are not guaranteed — actual mutual fund returns vary with market performance. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks; read all scheme related documents carefully before investing. Financially Free is an AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributor (ARN-350272).
